We wanted to have stronger control over the drawings and eliminate the possibility of two people working on the same drawing simultaneously. Adept helps us maintain a document history and restricts access to only authorized personnel.

Challenges
- The company struggled to control a growing number of drawings throughout the plant’s life cycle.
- They needed to replace an existing file management system that no longer supported the latest version of AutoCAD.
- Engineering needed a way to eliminate drawing mistakes, duplicates and ensure revision control.
- All plant documents needed to be stored in a native file format without any type of encryption.
- Their diverse workforce, including engineering, operations and maintenance, purchasing, planning, and construction, needed fast access to their documents.
We wanted to find the drawings, have a secure safe place to put them, and if something went wrong we wanted to be able to access those drawings on our network without them being encrypted. The number one thing we wanted was a program that kept all the files in their native format.
Solution
- Adept creates a central repository to store and access all designs by all mining departments.
- It delivers integration with AutoCAD in a secure environment without encrypting their files for easy retrieval.
- It manages multiple types of files and all their inter-relationships, including AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, Microsoft Office, JPEGs and scanned legacy drawings.
- It has the ability to restrict access to only authorized personnel.
- It enables anyone to access construction drawing and view or print from a workstation.
Adept has provided great cost savings. People can efficiently access drawings from their own workstation. They don’t have to come to engineering and waste our time searching and printing out older drawings.
Results
- All company departments can easily access the latest version of a drawing, including engineering, operations, maintenance, purchasing, planning, and construction.
- Adept has provided great cost savings because people can access drawings efficiently at their own workstation.
