Adept Catalyst-On Dark

Coming Soon

External collaboration in SharePoint, governed by your engineering system of record.

Adept Catalyst turns external collaboration into a controlled extension of Adept — your engineering system of record. It controls what documents go out to projects and ensures updates come back through review, approvals, and version control — so projects move faster and operations receives clean, reliable engineering documentation.

THE PROBLEM

Project drift begins the moment documents leave your system.

Every capital project requires collaboration with contractors, EPC firms, fabricators, and engineering partners. Those partners need access to engineering documents. But sending documents via email, shared drives, or FTP without governance creates a problem that compounds over time.

Configuration drift:

The gap that develops between what your engineering documentation says and what the physical plant actually looks like. It accumulates across every project — one incomplete handover at a time — until it becomes a safety risk, an operational liability, and a compliance exposure.

It also undermines every digital transformation initiative your organization pursues — digital twins, AI, predictive maintenance — because they all depend on engineering data that accurately reflects the physical plant.

HOW ADEPT CATALYST WORKS

A governed collaboration gateway — from release to return.

Catalyst extends Adept’s governance into SharePoint. Documents leave Adept in a controlled, tracked way. Contractors collaborate in an environment they already know. And when work is done, documents return through review, approval, and version control back into Adept.

1.Controlled Release

A Portal Manager selects documents from Adept and publishes them through Catalyst to a SharePoint project workspace in the appropriate format — PDF, copy, or checked-out file. Every release is tracked. Nothing leaves without accountability.

2.External Collaboration

Contractors and partners collaborate in SharePoint — a tool they already know. No Adept access required. No VPN. No friction. They work in their environment while Adept remains the system of record.

3.Governed Return

Revised documents return to Adept through review, approval, and version-controlled check-in. Updated drawings reflect what was actually built. At handover, Adept is accurate and complete.

LIFECYCLE IMPACT

Controlled collaboration improves performance at every stage.

When documents are released from a governed system of record and return through a governed process, the impact is measurable at every phase of the asset lifecycle.

Lifecycle Phase

Impact of Controlled Collaboration

Planning

Engineers start with accurate as-built documentation — not outdated copies from shared drives.

Design

Fewer engineering errors and redesign cycles because teams work from authoritative information.

Construction

Reduced field surprises and change orders when drawings reflect the actual plant configuration.

Commissioning

Documentation reflects the installed system, accelerating verification and startup.

Handover

Updated drawings return to the system of record through review, approval, and version control.

Operations

Maintenance teams rely on accurate documentation tied to real-world plant conditions.

Future Projects

Engineers start every subsequent project from a trusted, complete baseline.

Frequently asked questions

Questions engineering leaders ask before choosing Adept for product data management.
  • Adept Catalyst is a governed collaboration gateway between Adept and Microsoft SharePoint. It allows engineering organizations to collaborate with contractors and external partners in SharePoint — without giving them access to Adept or requiring a VPN — while keeping Adept as the engineering system of record. Documents are released from Adept in a controlled, tracked way, and return through review, approval, and version control.
  • A Portal Manager in Adept selects the documents needed for an external project and publishes them through Catalyst to a SharePoint project workspace in the appropriate format — PDF, copy, or checked-out file. Contractors collaborate in SharePoint as they normally would. When collaboration is complete, revised documents return to Adept through a governed process that includes review, approval, and version-controlled check-in. The audit trail is maintained in Adept throughout.
  • No — contractors and external partners collaborate entirely in SharePoint. They don’t need Adept access, VPN access, or any special credentials beyond what your SharePoint environment provides. This makes Catalyst particularly valuable for organizations where IT policy restricts external access to internal systems.
  • Configuration drift is the gap that develops between what engineering documentation says and what the physical plant actually looks like. It accumulates across capital projects, plant modifications, and equipment upgrades — one incomplete handover at a time. Over a 30 to 50 year asset lifecycle, this drift creates safety risk, operational errors, compliance exposure, and costly rework during future capital projects. It also undermines digital transformation initiatives like digital twins and AI that depend on accurate engineering data.
  • Adept Catalyst requires an active Adept on-premise license and a Microsoft SharePoint environment for the external collaboration workspace. It is on the roadmap for Adept Cloud. All plans include a mandatory onboarding fee of $1500.
  • Adept Catalyst is available in three plans: Essentials at $750/month, Professional at $2,000/month, and Enterprise at $4,000/month — all billed annually. Plans differ in concurrent project capacity and included document volume, with additional capacity available as an add-on for each plan. A mandatory onboarding fee of $1500 applies to all plans.
  • Adept Catalyst is coming soon, with early access available this summer for existing Adept customers. Contact us to request early access.
