The Adept Ecosystem
Adept and Adept Cloud are complete engineering document management platforms on their own. For organizations that want to extend their capabilities further, Adept offers a suite of purpose-built add-ons — each solving a specific problem that engineering and operational teams encounter across the asset lifecycle. All three are currently available for Adept (on-premise) and on the roadmap for Adept Cloud.
Adept Catalyst
Governed SharePoint collaboration for engineering teams and external partners.
Adept Integrator
Enterprise application integration — connecting Adept to ERP, EAM, CMMS, GIS, and more.
Adept PublishWave
Automated, high-fidelity PDF publishing from CAD and Office files — on workflow or on demand.
ADD-ON FOR ADEPT (ON THE ROADMAP FOR ADEPT CLOUD)
Adept Catalyst
Governed SharePoint collaboration for engineering teams and their external partners.
The problem Catalyst solves
Capital projects require collaboration with contractors, EPC firms, fabricators, and other external partners. Those partners need access to engineering documents — but most organizations can't or won't give external parties direct access to Adept. The alternative — sending documents by email, shared drives, or FTP — works, but at a cost. Documents leave the engineering system of record. Versions multiply. Redlines get lost. At project close, the reconciliation between what was built and what the documentation says is incomplete.
Adept Catalyst solves this by creating a governed collaboration bridge between Adept and Microsoft SharePoint. Contractors collaborate in SharePoint — a tool they already know. Adept stays the system of record. No documents escape governance. No version control is lost.
The collaboration environment is a choice. The governance is not. Whether partners work directly in Adept or through SharePoint via Catalyst, the engineering record stays accurate, controlled, and complete.
How Catalyst works
Catalyst governs the full external collaboration workflow — from initial document release through review, approval, and return to the system of record:
- Engineers publish documents from Adept to a governed SharePoint environment — contractors receive accurate, version-controlled documents from the start
- External partners collaborate, mark up, and revise documents within SharePoint — no Adept access or VPN required
- Updated documents return to Adept through a structured review and approval workflow
- Version control is maintained throughout — every revision is tracked, every action is logged
- At project handover, the engineering record is complete — no documentation debt, no reconciliation scramble
Starts with accurate information
Engineers publish from Adept, so external partners always start from the current, controlled version — not a stale email attachment.
Controlled return
Documents don't re-enter Adept without going through review and approval. Nothing slips back unvetted.
No contractor access required
Partners work entirely within SharePoint. No Adept licenses, no VPN, no IT provisioning for external users.
Audit trail
Every document release, revision, and return is logged. Traceability is maintained from first issue through final handover.
ADD-ON FOR ADEPT (ON THE ROADMAP FOR ADEPT CLOUD) · ALSO AVAILABLE AS A STANDALONE INTEGRATION PLATFORM
Adept Integrator
One platform for dynamic, limitless connectivity across your enterprise applications.
The problem Integrator solves
Engineering information doesn't live in isolation. A P&ID in Adept needs to be connected to the equipment record in your EAM. A drawing revision in Adept should trigger an update in your CMMS. A project milestone in Primavera P6 should inform the document workflow in Adept. When these connections don't exist, teams re-enter data manually — slowly, inconsistently, and with risk of error.
Adept Integrator eliminates the manual data flows between Adept and your broader IT infrastructure. With over 100 pre-built connectors, it automates the synchronization of engineering information across ERP, EAM, CMMS, GIS, project management, and business intelligence systems — keeping Adept connected to everything that depends on it.
Engineering information shouldn't live in a silo. Adept Integrator connects Adept to the enterprise systems that operations, maintenance, finance, and project teams depend on — so the right information reaches the right system automatically.
What Integrator connects
Integrator's 100+ pre-built connectors span the full enterprise IT landscape. Common integrations include:
ERP systems
SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Sage — synchronize engineering data with financial and procurement workflows.
EAM / CMMS
IBM Maximo and others — connect asset records to engineering documentation so maintenance teams always work from current information.
GIS
Esri — link engineering documents to spatial asset data for utilities, energy, and infrastructure organizations.
CRM
Salesforce — connect engineering deliverables to customer and project records.
Project management
Oracle Primavera P6 — align document workflows with project schedules and milestones.
Collaboration platforms
SharePoint, Exchange, and more — extend data flows across the collaboration tools your organization already uses.
ADD-ON FOR ADEPT (ON THE ROADMAP FOR ADEPT CLOUD)
Adept PublishWave
Automated, high-fidelity PDF publishing for CAD and Office files — without tying up a workstation.
The problem PublishWave solves
Every engineering organization needs to distribute documents in PDF format — for review, for contractors, for operations teams, for regulatory submissions. The traditional workflow is manual and slow: open the file, export to PDF, save it somewhere, send it. Multiply that by hundreds of drawings and the burden is real. And when a drawing is updated, the PDF has to be regenerated — manually, again.
PublishWave automates this entirely. PDF generation is triggered automatically on check-in or approval in Adept, or on demand in single or batch mode. Processing runs on a dedicated workstation so no user's productivity is interrupted. The result: accurate, version-controlled PDFs that reach the right destination the moment they're needed.
When a document is approved in Adept, PublishWave can automatically generate a high-fidelity PDF and deliver it to the right destination — the Adept vault, a network folder, SharePoint, SAP, or a CMMS — without anyone lifting a finger.
What PublishWave does
High-fidelity output
Uses a licensed instance of the native application — AutoCAD, SOLIDWORKS, Inventor, MicroStation, Word, Excel — to generate the highest quality PDF output possible. No lossy conversions.
Workflow-driven publishing
Automatically publish PDFs on document check-in or upon final approval in Adept. The latest version reaches the right destination the moment it's approved.
On-demand batch publishing
Authorized users can publish single files or entire batches from any location, on demand — without opening the native application or waiting for a workstation to free up.
Publish to virtually anywhere
Output to an Adept vault, a network fileshare, SharePoint, SAP, or other business applications — with Adept metadata attached where supported.
Frequently asked questions
Questions we hear most often about the Adept add-on suite.
-
Not yet — but all three are on the roadmap for Adept Cloud. They are currently available as add-ons for Adept (on-premise). If Adept Cloud availability is important to your evaluation, we'd encourage you to reach out so we can share the latest on timing.
-
No. Contractors and external partners collaborate entirely within Microsoft SharePoint — a tool most already use. No Adept license, no VPN, and no IT provisioning is required for external users. Adept remains the system of record on your side; SharePoint is simply the collaboration environment for partners.
-
No. Adept Integrator is designed for IT professionals and business analysts, not developers. With over 100 pre-built connectors, most common enterprise integrations can be configured without any custom development. Pre-built connectors include SAP, Oracle P6, Maximo, Esri, Adept, and many more. If a pre-built connector doesn't exist, one can be built quickly using Integrator Studio — a drag-and-drop visual data mapper and wizard-driven interface that allows Synergis or your team to build and manage integration flows without writing code.
-
Adept PublishWave supports the leading CAD and Office applications used in engineering environments, including AutoCAD, SOLIDWORKS, Inventor, MicroStation, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel. Because PublishWave uses a licensed instance of the native application to generate output, the PDF quality is equivalent to printing directly from the application itself.
-
Each add-on can be purchased individually based on your organization's specific needs. You don't need to purchase all three — Catalyst, Integrator, and PublishWave are each licensed independently. Contact us to discuss which combination is the right fit for your environment.
-
Adept Catalyst maintains an audit trail of every document release from Adept to SharePoint and every revision and return from SharePoint back to Adept. Activity that occurs within SharePoint itself — such as internal edits by contractor team members — is tracked by SharePoint's native version history, not by Adept Catalyst. The governance Catalyst provides covers the handoff points: what left your system of record, what came back, and when. It ensures controlled reintegration with version control and approvals.
-
No. While Adept Integrator is available as an add-on that extends the Adept platform, it is also available as a standalone enterprise integration platform for organizations that need to automate data flows across their broader IT infrastructure — independent of Adept. Contact us to learn more about the standalone option.
