Attribute & Property Linking
Adept has a bi-directional link to attributes or properties contained within your AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, MicroStation and Microsoft Office files. This link ensures that important information already contained within your documents is populated into the Adept database, and that as changes are made to those documents, the Adept database is automatically updated.
CAD files from AutoCAD-based applications, Inventor, SolidWorks and MicroStation store information about each file in “properties,” “attributes” or “tags.” These commonly correspond to the drawing title block fields or to physical characteristics (e.g. color, material, finish, etc) of a 3D model. Adept automatically extracts all appropriate properties and stores them in a database field. After that, data that was once buried within thousands of files can be accessed from within Adept, and can be leveraged as search criteria to quickly locate files.
Because the link is bi-directional, you can “push” attribute or property information back into the CAD files individually or in batch mode. This batch update capability is especially valuable when large groups of files with attribute or property information need to be updated, which would otherwise require a user to open each file individually.
Most clients have a variety of corporate forms they use for a variety purposes, including engineering change request forms, ECO’s, purchase requests, travel requests, expense reports, quotes, time sheets, purchase orders, etc. As users fill out a form, it can be managed by Adept, and appropriate information can be extracted from the form into Adept. This information can then be leveraged to find files fast, generate reports, and reference information without having to open the file itself.
Link Adept to your attribute or property fields from AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, MicroStation and Office, eliminating redundant data entry and enhancing the power of your Adept database
Unify data that is stored in thousands of individual documents into your centralized Adept database for fast, easy access and reporting
Save time with automatic extraction of attribute, property or tag information at initial implementation and whenever a document has been edited
Eliminate redundant data entry and ensure consistent metadata between the Adept database and your files
