California Utility Uses Adept Document Management to Improve Delivery of Electricity to More Than 97,000 Homes, Farms, Businesses, Industrial, and Municipal Accounts

Quakertown, PA, June 28, 2007 — Synergis Software, the independent software development division of Synergis Technologies, Inc., today announced that the Turlock Irrigation District (TID) (www.tid.com), a provider of low cost, and reliable electricity in California's Central Valley, has adopted Adept document management & workflow software for their corporate document management system. TID is responsible for managing hydrocarbon, geothermal and fossil fuel plants that serve 220,000 people in the area. They use Adept software to develop, track, find, retrieve, and securing all the facility and construction documents that support the utility's energy stations and substations and towers.

"At TID, there are many people who need access to documents, including supervisors, construction crews, and maintenance crews," explained Ed Jobe, engineering document management administrator at TID, who is responsible for the task of managing TID's engineering documents. "If a piece of equipment needs maintenance, a drawing of that equipment needs to be sent to the contractor or vendor. Adept helps us deliver the latest copy of that drawing to the field so accurate and timely maintenance is performed."

Improved Service to the Public

TID is required to meet the requirements of several regulatory agencies, such as the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), California ISO and others. For example, FERC requires all drawing revisions be maintained for 50 years after a license expires. Data retention and security are a must. "The Adept system is very easy to configure to meet the security requirements of regulatory agencies. Not only are documents secure against everyday events like accidental deletion, but it is easy to administer rights in Adept, such as who gets to view or print the documents," said Jobe.

"In addition to these requirements, as a public utility, we have a commitment to keep rates competitive. This places a burden on us to get our work done with minimal staff at a time when California's economy is expanding. This means we have more work to do with fewer people to get it done. We have to be as efficient as possible."

About Turlock Irrigation District

Established in 1887, the Turlock Irrigation District was the first publicly owned irrigation district in California and one of only four in the state today that also provide electric retail energy directly to homes, farms and businesses.

Today, the District's 307-square-mile irrigation service area is generally in those portions of Merced and Stanislaus counties situated between the Merced and Tuolumne Rivers from the foothills on the east to the San Joaquin River on the west. The Tuolumne River is the primary source of irrigation water, replenished annually by the spring snowmelt in the 1,884-square-mile Tuolumne River watershed.
