Adept Document Management & Workflow Delivers Inter-Departmental Scalability and Multi-Platform Integration with SolidWorks, AutoCAD and Other Documents
Synergis Software, a leader in engineering document management, today announced that BD Diagnostics, a segment of medical technology provider BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), selected Adept document management & workflow to replace its existing document management system. David Lentz, Research and Development Manager of Mechanical Engineering at BD Diagnostics, led an evaluation team which, over a period of eight months, selected Adept based upon the company’s 15 years experience and success with implementing document management and the product’s scalability and cross-platform CAD integration with SolidWorks, AutoCAD and related engineering documents.
“With more than 115,000 files in 14,000 folders, we required a document management system that allowed for an easy, pain-free migration from our existing system,” said Lentz. “Adept provides the flexibility to control and track revisions across multiple CAD platforms, including AutoCAD, SolidWorks and the scalability to support users across departments and locations.”
In addition to managing data for 45 users across two locations, BD Diagnostics needed to ensure that metadata from Adept could be shared with other enterprise business systems. They also wanted a system that could manage their revisioning schemes.
“Adept’s solution provides an Application Programming Interface (API) that uses Visual Basic and C++ to extend the application’s capabilities without locking us into any proprietary system,” added Lentz. “The Synergis Software team provides outstanding data management expertise – from implementation through custom development – and a long list of successful customer references. In this they are unique among other vendors.”
BD (www.bd.com) is a medical technology company that serves healthcare institutions, life science researchers, clinical laboratories, industry and the general public. BD manufactures and sells a broad range of medical supplies, devices, laboratory equipment and diagnostic products. For the fiscal year ended September 30, 2004, BD reported total revenues of $4.935 billion.
